Box Truck Blast Leaves One Hurt, Houses Damaged in Addison, IL

The explosion was caused by a leaking propane tank, Addison fire officials determined.

A box truck explosion in Addison has been ruled accidental.

The blast left one person hurt, four houses damaged and a wide debris field, WGN reported

The explosion was caused by a leaking propane tank, according to investigators with Addison police, ATF and DuPage County Bomb Squad.

“Our security and  insurance team will be reviewing the matter. Under Penske’s rental agreement, explosive, flammable or otherwise hazardous materials should not be transported in a consumer rental moving truck," Penske officals wrote in a statement.
